In the opening context of this website, you can see that we have learnt many vital lessons about human nature, especially in children. Some of them are mentioned and discussed below:

• When children do not receive the proper support of adults, they tend to get influenced by wrong people easily. For example,  Alex. Alex spent most of his time at his house alone where he was not able to do anything, like watch television, listen to music or hang around with his friends. There was nothing interesting in his life until he met Rick. Rick allowed Alex to watch television, play video games and skip school whenever Alex went for a sleepover. He gave Alex full freedom. This is what attracted Alex. Rick was so influential that he made Alex feel that he was gay. Alex in return started to love Rick. Therefore adults, parent or guardians, should not be unjust with their children, otherwise they would turn out to be like Alex. They would get attracted and influenced by others easily. Therefore adults must always support and encourage their children into being good citizens. They should help the children build their self-esteem and self confidence.
• Another lesson we have learnt about human nature is that children will do anything to protect themselves. Like the way Alex and Derek did. In the beginning they confessed into killing their father, but when they realized that they were going to be punished severely for this mistake they changed their story. Alex and Derek blamed the murder of their father, Terry King, on Rick Chavis. They changed their story drastically to save themselves. Even later on in the novel, Alex confesses to have had sexual relationship with Chavis. He confesses this to increase Chavis's punishment and decrease his own punishment. We can understand from this that kids can do anything, take any steps for protecting themselves.
• A child needs a steady life with his own family, or that child would be miserable, depressed and desperate. This is another lesson that we have learnt in the course of the website. This can also be related to the novel, "Angels of death". According to Derek’s teachers and coaches, Derek was a very nice kid. He used to achieve satisfactory grades. He had joined many school teams, such as the basketball team and track-n-field. He used to be very popular with kids of his age, and was very charming. According to the Escambia County Psychiatrist, these were the signs of a serial killer.
